Priority Deadlines
Priority deadline for completion of the financial aid application (FAFSA) is July 1 each year for students who are beginning the fall semester, October 1 for those students entering the spring semester, and April 1 for those students enrolling for only the summer sessions. FAFSAs completed after these dates will be processed, but the Financial Aid Office cannot guarantee the student will have an official award notice that will permit them to charge their fees against financial aid. Students, who apply after the above mentioned dates, should be prepared to pay a portion of their tuition and fees at the time of fee collection.
When FAFSA is received, students will be mailed a “Missing Information” form. The needed documents will be enclosed with the paper request, or the student may complete these documents online under “Financial Aid Forms: and submit them electronically.
Approximately 1/3 of all students who apply through the FAFSA are selected by the Central Processor to be verified. If you are selected, you will also have to provide signed copies of your/ your parents’ tax returns and W-2 forms.
Upon completion of all documentation required, student will receive an award notification letter which will list all financial aid available at the time the award notice was processed. If you are expecting scholarships, we will add as we receive these notices. Each award letter must be signed and one copy returned to the Financial Aid Office.
Financial Aid disbursement will occur after enrollment is verified after the 12th class day of the semester. Students who have excess monies after all tuition and fees have been paid will have a check ready at the Cashier’s Office. A list will be posted in the student center of the refund checks ready to be picked up.
Any questions should be directed to the ASUMH Financial Aid Office at: 870-508-6195.
