Mountain Home’s Chief of Police already had an important job in the community when he decided to enroll at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. As Carry Manuel said, “although I was pursuing my degree while serving as Chief of Police, my study expanded my knowledge of community policing, society, and human behavior. The training I received at ASUMH is essential in my work as I relate with victims of crime and those who are affected by accidents or violence.” While Manuel credits everyone at ASUMH as having had a positive impact on his life, he says that some of the best things about his experiences at ASUMH were the “quality instruction, caring personnel, and excellent facilities.” Manuel wound up attending ASUMH to further his education in the Criminal Justice field as a way to better serve the community. ASUMH assisted him in receiving college credit for past law enforcement training and the transfer of credits from other schools. Manuel received an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice. In addition to attending regular classes, the online programs were also an asset since Manuel had a busy work schedule. Proving that it’s never too late in life or in a career to attend ASUMH, Manuel said he would encourage others to enroll and take advantage of the college being right here in the Twin Lakes Area. “The college has a great setting in a great community.” |
