Student Success Stories
Wiwat Leebhaisomboon
As a junior exchange student at Mountain Home High School, Wiwat Leebhaisomboon (Lee) fell in love with the Twin Lakes Area and made a decision to stay here instead of returning to his home in Bangkok, Thailand, when his exchange ended. While in high school, he visited the ASUMH campus and was taken with the people, the location and the campus itself. “I made up my mind to attend ASUMH even before I finished high school,” said Lee. “It is really difficult to find a good, small college that offers such a high-quality academic experience, but ASUMH is a really good, solid starting point.” In addition to focusing on classes he would need for an Associate of Arts degree at ASUMH, Lee enjoyed participating in many extracurricular activities as well. As President of the Roteract Club and a member of the Fran Coulter Honors Program, he excelled both in and out of the classroom. “One of the many people at ASUMH who made a difference for me was Sandi Melton. English wasn’t my first language and speaking in English wasn’t the easiest thing for me, but after taking Speech, my public speaking skills improved greatly.” Lee is completing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering now in Fayetville, Arkansas, and considers his two years at ASUMH time well spent. “My experiences in Mountain Home were fantastic. ASUMH will prepare you for every goal you are trying to achieve.”
