Laura Towery

In the beginning of my college education, I was just like any other college student. I thought I would show up for class, do my homework, and hope to get a good grade to graduate. However, things started to change for me, and it all started with Dr. Perry's Business Statistics. I would sit in the front just as I did with other classes. As the semester went on, I began to develop a true passion for business. I even was performing statistics in restaurants and would inform Dr. Perry of this the next class. Let’s just say she got a kick out of that.  As my college career progressed, I kept thinking of her and the class, and how much it changed my path in life.

Early 2006 my dream came true, I purchased the business that I truly loved and worked at while going to college. I never really knew I would be recognized for what I achieved at ASUMH. I thought making the Alumni of the Year award was a huge honor, and then the next thing I know ASUMH wants to run an ad in the newspaper about me. I cannot believe it made front page. The community's response was very astonishing to realize that because of ASUMH running my story I had inspired others. That is what ASUMH has dramatically done for me was to inspire me and my way of thinking, and I in turn have done that for others. Therefore, I deeply say thank you ASUMH for all that you have done.
