Part-time Electronics Instructor

Arkansas State University-Mountain Home seeks applicants for a part-time Electronics Instructor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching first and second year electronics, robotics classes, and providing training to students in a manner that prepares successful program graduates for entry-level employment as industrial electronics and/or robotics technicians or related positions.

Minimum requirements include an associate’s degree with at least 15 semester hours in Electronics Communications or related area and a minimum of three years’ work experience using DC, AC, Semiconductors, Op Amps, Communications, PLC/Control Systems, Digital Communication Systems, and Electronics Circuit Design is required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Part-time Electronics Instructor

The Part-time Electronics Instructor will be part of a team that is responsible for teaching first and second year electronics, robotics classes, and for providing training to students in a manner that prepares successful program graduates for entry-level employment as industrial electronics and/or robotics technicians or related positions.

 Responsibilities of a part-time instructor include but are not limited to:

  • Lecture and lab instruction, classes can have day and evening hours.
  • Ability to utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course material.
  • Candidate will be able to work independently, grade and prepare progress reports in accordance with school policy.
  • Evaluate the performance of students regarding achievements in curriculum and activities and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
  • Monitor students in the laboratory. Demonstrate and assist students with lab procedures and ensure adherence with safety precautions.
  • Plan and develop meaningful student learning experiences based upon current industry or business practices.

  Minimum Qualifications

  • An associate’s degree with at least 15 semester hours in Electronics Communications or related area
  • Minimum three years' work experience with DC, AC, Semiconductors, Op Amps, Communications, PLC/Control Systems, Digital Communication Systems, and Electronics Circuit Design.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and presentation skills required.
  • Must be able to work on a computer, phone, and other office equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics/electrical engineering
  • Experience with industrial automation
  • Prior teaching or training experience in a related field.
  • Industrial programming experience: PLC, C++ or JAVA
