Four ASUMH Students Receive Veterans Scholarships

Four Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) students have each received $1,000 scholarships through the Arkansas Veterans Education and Training Partnership (AVETP).

The scholarship funds were made available through a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) in an effort to increase the skill sets of veterans and result in training and credentialing for jobs in high-demand industries, according to ASUMH Chancellor Robin Myers.

Dr. Myers added, “We are honored to have these veterans on our campus and appreciate the sacrifices they have made on behalf of our nation.”

Three of the four grant recipients completed the practical nursing program and were part of the pinning ceremony on July 29. The fourth recipient is a student in ASUMH’s welding program.

The Arkansas Department of Workforce Services (ADWS) in partnership with the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges (AATYC), ARVets and the Arkansas Apprenticeship Coalition (AAC) requested funding from DOL to provide veterans with increased opportunities for training, supportive services, employment, and retained employment in Arkansas.
