ASUMH PBL Earns Top Honors at Nat'l Leadership Conference

Arkansas State University-Mountain Home's (ASUMH) chapter of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) earned top honors at PBL’s National Leadership Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee in June.

After qualifying for nationals at the state conference in March, ASUMH PBL members spent June 24-27 competing in Nashville, Tenn., where seven members participated in five different events.  Over 1,500 college students from across the country attended the conference.

The PBL competitive event program recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. Each event is governed by specific guidelines and fall into three categories: team, individual and chapter.  Individual and team events focus on skills useful in leadership and career development; chapter events recognize overall achievement and performance in chapter management and growth.

ASUMH students received the following recognition:

Zachary Weaver earned a fourth place finish in Website Design.

Anna Dollar, Rene Ford, Ashlee Kanani and Michelle Riley earned a sixth place finish in Parliamentary Procedure.

Brandon Barnes achieved a tenth place win in Sales Presentation.

Additionally, ASUMH’s PBL was recognized as a Super Sweeps chapter for completing a membership recruitment plan.

FBLA-PBL members have the competitive edge, as the best and brightest of FBLA and PBL convene to compete in leadership events, share their successes, and learn new ideas about shaping their career future through workshops and exhibits. The four-day National Leadership Conference is considered the pinnacle of the FBLA-PBL experience.  For additional information about the ASUMH chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, contact PBL Adviser, Karen Heslep, at 508-6185, kheslep@asumh.edu.
