Online Courses

Online courses at Arkansas State University are designed to give students the access to quality education at a convenient time and location. Class lectures, discussion, assignments, and exams are delivered via the Internet so that students who need the flexibility of working at different hours of the day and week can be accommodated. At Arkansas State University Mountain Home, we strive to offer high-quality online classes that promote and support student learning.

The advantage of online courses is the convenience -- students do not have to travel to campus frequently and they can take their courses at a time which works better with their schedules. Online courses require the same if not more motivation and self-discipline on the part of the student.

What is Blackboard?

Getting Started with Blackboard (Word or PDF)

Using Student Course Tools in Blackboard (Word or PDF)

Student Blackboard Tip Sheets (Currently under development)

Student Blackboard Manual
Note #1:  Some of the tools covered in the Blackboard.com student manual may not be present in the ASUMH course sites.   The version of Blackboard Academic Suite that ASUMH is running may not have certain tools available or your instructor may have chosen  to "turn-off" certain Blackboard components in his/her course site.

Note #2: If the Blackboard.com manual does not cover a tool or area used on your course site, then search for the TYPE of tool or area. For example, to learn more about the area of your site labeled "Quizzes," visit the section in the Blackboard.com manual named "Assessments." (Many instructors customize their ASUMH course sites to better serve their students.)
