The Technical Certificate in Funeral Science

This program is designed to help students seeking employment in a funeral home and as they prepare for their state’s funeral director licensing exam. Skills taught for this certificate should help students become valuable employees and apprentices as they work toward their desired license(s). All 31 credit hours from this Technical Certificate are part of the A.A.S. in Funeral Science 65-credit-hour degree and can be applied to that degree, if so desired. Embalming, however, is not part of the technical certificate curriculum. Completion of this Technical Certificate will not make a student eligible to sit for the National Board Exam. Students pursuing this certificate should contact their respective state boards of funeral service regarding that state board’s regulations for any other state board exam.

This academic program is designed to meet specific state or professional needs. It is not accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Students graduating from this program are not eligible to take the National Board Examination or any state board examination for which graduation from an ASFSE accredited program is required.

This program can also be attended on the campuses of ASU-Beebe and ASU-Jonesboro, as well as Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus, and NWACC in Bentonville via compressed video.
